Bloggy Mini-Rant

Dear fellow bloggers,

I love reading your blogs! I really do! I love commenting on them too, sharing my experience in the trials or joys you're sharing with all of us. Unfortunately, I run into snags many times, trying to comment on your blog and show you some love.

Many, many bloggers whose posts I find interesting have settings enabled that prevent me from leaving a comment. Having to sign into Wordpress, or another service, in order to leave a comment, instead of a name and website, means I won't be leaving comments.

Perhaps that's just super picky of me. I know a Wordpress account is free. I actually have a WP account...but I don't remember the password, and I'd rather not link to the dead blogs that hang out there. I understand spam can be, and is, a problem...but with a simple capatcha add-on, you can weed out the bots and still let rockstars people like me comment.

Please, check your settings and let us mortals, who are a little too lazy to figure out the mess that is Wordpress, leave you some comment love on those awesome posts you're putting out!

Love,

  1. I hate when I have to log in and I usually get so frustrated that I don't even comment. Although, I hate captcha too so maybe there's just no pleasing me.

    1. LOL I know we can't please everyone all the time, but I think you've a point here. Everyone else has echoed your sentiments, and I've come to the dark side as well. BE OFF WITH YOU, CAPTCHA!

  2. I know what you mean, about having trouble posting comments sometimes. I actually find captcha pretty hard to read at times. I like it when there is an email, or name/URL option available.

    1. Agreed! I've tried to set my commenting stuff here to be as easy as possible for people - please let me know if you have troubles!

  3. I so agree. I have tried hard to make commenting as easy as I can on my blog. I absolutely loathe captcha.

(Oh dear, then I had to go back and edit this because you have captcha. Blushing. But I really do dislike it. If I'm on my phone, I give up on commenting because it's alsmost impossible to get it to work.)

    1. Haha, thanks Tiffany! As I become more and more active in the blogging community, I am coming to loath captcha as well. So, I turned it off!! :)

  5. You know, I have Wordpress, but I've noticed when I comment on other bloggers' posts, it prompts me to sign in. I don't think it's anything the blogger can control. I don't know if my site requires a sign up or not because it's self-hosted, but I haven't enabled any sign-in. It's quite irritating, though, I'll agree.

    1. Hmm, well that's good to know - perhaps it's the blog host at fault...in which case, Wordpress I shake my finger at you!

  6. LOL! I feel your pain! There I am, commenting away, then I'm thrown when that WP login thing shows up and "shakes its head" at me when I can't remember what the heck my password is! At least now, since I moved over to WP, I think I'm covered - but just two weeks ago, ARGH!

    1. YES! Though, I've run into it enough that I'm probably going to see about resetting my password so I'm not missing out on this stuff. It's just irritating.

  7. Captcha KILLS me. Seriously. I've had to enter the squiggles 3-4 times at least each time.

The WP login is a pain. I have a WP account, and had to reset it. BUT, it appears you can now use your Gravatar login when the WP login prompt comes up.

    1. Hmm, I'll have to look into that - I'm not familiar with a gravatar login.
